Prior Experience

Prior to beginning my career as a psychotherapist, I was a credentialed teacher.  I spent fourteen years in the Kentfield School District (Kentfield, California) in various capacities.  As a middle school teacher I taught, English, Spanish, ESL, French, Social Studies, and Computers to students in grades 5-8.  As an adjunct to my teaching I acted as a counselor, providing individual and group counseling to students and assisting with adolescent sexuality seminars and Family Change and Social Skills Groups.  I also provided crisis intervention when needed.  In addition I was Regional Coordinator of a Foreign Language Teacher Training Project, a state-wide workshop presenter on themes relating to the teaching of foreign languages and took advanced language course work in both Quebec and Mexico.

I started my teaching career in 1979, and have taught at The Katherine Del Mar Burke School (San Francisco, California), The Menlo School (Atherton, California), Helen Cox Middle School (New Orleans, Louisiana) and East Leyden High School (Franklin Park, Illinois.)

Clinical Experience:

00- present                    Private Practice

Psychotherapy for adults, children, families, and couples. Parent consultation and co-parenting counseling for families of divorce and remarriage; on-going at-risk teen girls counseling groups. Personality testing for children, ages 6-17.

04-present                     Bay Area Community Resources

                                    Supervisor of predoctoral internship program. Responsible for training and individual supervision for all clinical psychology interns working under the auspices of New Perspectives, which places interns in K-12 public schools throughout Marin County.

01-04                            Marin County Office of Education

Psychological testing, including personality testing, social and emotional functioning, cognitive functioning and learning disabilities screenings for children ages 6-17. Sites served: Braun Day Treatment (high school), Grant Grover Day Treatment (elementary and middle school), Marin County Juvenile Hall, St. Vincent School for Boys, Larkspur School District, Dixie School District, San Rafael High School District.

Services: individual and group therapy to severely emotionally disturbed children ages 8-14 and their families.

Registered Psychological Assistant; supervised by Dr. Brian Lukas.

Services: 10-12 client hours per week (adults, families, and children ages 4-16); psychological testing supervised by Dr. Carol Foster of the Marin County Office of Education. Extensive clinical training in child/adult sandplay therapy

9/98 - 9/99                     Community Institute for Psychotherapy, San Rafael, CA

Predoctoral Internship Program, supervised by Dr. Philip Alex and Dr.Nina Berk Knox.

Eating Disorders Training Program:Provided intensive outpatient treatment for patients with DSM IV diagnoses of Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia, Binge-Eating Disorder, and Eating Disorder NOS (1/3rd of caseload.)

Homeward Bound Homeless Shelter: Co-led a weekly adult support group at the emergency family homeless shelter on Francisco Blvd. This population included CD and dual diagnosis patients.

Psychological Testing:Completed adult/child testing batteries including the following tests: WAIS-R, MMPI, Bender-Gestalt, DAP, TAT, Rorschach (Exner).
